- Grilling sweet
Grilled pineapple, browned apricot and even grilled fruit skewers. These will be a hit this season! Reach for supplies from your home pantry and seasonal fruit and try grilling them. Acidic pineapple will break up the flavour of buttery chicken perfectly, while apricot will accentuate the taste of vegetable salads. We've got something for the kids too - they'll love the caramelised banana and marshmallow skewers!
- In keeping with the zero waste trend
Zero waste cooking will continue to be popular. Do you have potatoes left over from Saturday's dinner? Cut them into smaller chunks, drizzle them with olive oil, sprinkle them with spices, place them on an aluminium tray and put them on the grill. Have you got chicken drumsticks left over from the broth? Prepare it in a jerky version as a burger base. How to do it. Separate the meat from the bone, add chunks of red onion, a small spicy pepper and shred everything. Add a tablespoon of mustard, salt and pepper. Place on a grill tray and lightly toast over the fire. Serve in burger buns with your favourite toppings.
- Sausage with original toppings
A classic Silesian from the fire is the way to go! It will be popular this season to turn up its flavour with ingredients and spices you are sure to find in your pantry. Slice the sausage and alternately place a small sprig of rosemary and finely chopped garlic in each hole. Sound delicious?
- It's on fire! An American-style barbecue
The culture of Western BBQ will increasingly make an appearance during our May weekends. It's not just juicy steaks and burgers on the grill, but also the popular side dishes there - corn with butter and a pinch of salt, American sauces such as barbecue and chutney.
Slow food, i.e. cooking meat dishes Western-style - slowly, over a very low flame and in a specially prepared grill with a large lid - will also be top of the line.
- For the thirsty? Soft drinks
The younger generation is increasingly refusing to drink alcoholic beverages, and we adults are starting to follow their example. After all, delicious food and the right company are enough for a good picnic party. There's another plus - no headaches the next day 😉 Swap traditional drinks for 0% beers, popular drinks made from fruit mousses and juices, refreshing lemonade, or water with original ice cubes - with mint, blueberries or strawberry pieces.
